POSITION DESCRIPTION:     CIS Volunteers
Key Objectives:   
To provide information, support and referral services to clients in a confidential, impartial and non-judgmental manner, at all times maintaining the clients’ right to make their own choices and decisions whilst operating within the Agency’s policies, procedures and standards and the relevant government legislation, laws and acts.

Requirements:
  • Complete an accredited training course within 9 months of starting at MWCIS
  • Willingness to undergo training as required to maintain skills and knowledge by attending at least 75% of the ongoing training sessions provided by the agency,
  • Undertake an extra administrative duty as required.
  • Name to be placed on the roster for a.m. / p.m. duty on a regular basis
  • Replace absentees on the roster when possible
  • Ensure regular and punctual attendance as per the roster
  • Computer literacy is desirable

    Duties:
  •  Follow established administrative agency procedures.
  •  Accurately record all information as per the procedures.
  •  Record details of all enquiries handled.
  • Answer phone calls and respond with confidence.
  •  Provide advice on various matters to the public, either on the telephone or in person.
  •  Make appointments for clients.
  •  If appropriate, and when requested by the client, negotiate on the client’s behalf with other organisations.
  • Provide any practical help clients may need in completing forms, drafting or writing of letters and making phone calls.
  • Use resources to obtain information that meets the clients’ needs, ensuring that the information and advice given to the clients is understandable and relevant.
  • Access information from the computer.
  • Contribute to the resources of the agency by informing the “Information Officer” of new information.
  • Assist with the sale of charity Christmas cards from mid-Oct to Dec.
  • Maintain the general cleanliness of the office.
